TOC TP Theory Of Constraints
TOC TP the theory of constraints for the creative and innovative manager
is a management paradigm that views any manageable system as being limited in achieving more of its goals by a very small number of constraints. There is always at least one constraint, and TOC uses a focusing process to identify the constraint and restructure the rest of the organization around it.
TOC adopts the common idiom “a chain is no stronger than its weakest link”. This means that processes, organizations, etc., are limited by internal or external constrains such as resources procedures and management paradigms.
When solving a problem we should make sure we are solving the right problem ( the root problem) we must evaluate the problem in the context of the system it’s belonging to. We should solve the problem without creating a new one somewhere else in the system.
The purpose of the thinking processes is to help one answer questions essential to achieving focused improvement:
1. Why to change?
2. What to change?
3. What to change to?
4. How to cause the change?
5. How to maintain the process of ongoing improvement
In order to answer the 1st and the 2nd questions “Why to change” and “What to change” we map the system by using logical cause effect diagram called CRT (Current Reality Tree)
In order to answer the 3rd question “What to change to” and provide win win solutions we use the Cloud (CRD Conflict Resolution Diagram) technique. During the Cloud process we expose hidden assumptions and address them. That Evaporating the Cloud and solves conflicts that usually perpetuate the causes for an undesirable situation.
